Great news for us UICians and for the ITE Program!

The ITE Program have submitted two entries for this year’s challenge. Just this June 26, the JEDI team has announced the Final 14 or shall we say the Finalists for Philippine Challenge. The winner here will be sent to Singapore to compete for the Finals from Champions of Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The good thing here is that the two teams from UIC-ITE Program have made it to the Final 14 and they will compete this July 14 at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) in Quezon City and meet the other finalists from prestigious universities from all over the Philippines. I will be with them in Manila and serve as teams’  adviser. And we’re proud that we’re the only teams from Mindanao!

The two UIC-ITE Teams are the following:

Team 1: Team Sugo ni Bro!

Application: Fleet Management System using Zkoss Framework

Members:m Karlo Jesus Sobiaco, Patrick John Yap, & Abzkan Abdul - IT 4

Team 2: Team RoJoSe

Application: An AJAX-based Multi Website Management System Using XML-RPC

Members: Ronald Borla, Sean Lester Benitez, & Joseph Rey Sator - IT 4

These two teams are really complete in package, from technical skills to communication skills. But constant practice will make them more competitive in one way or another. Good luck and God bless to our competition.

Just an update: I had a wonderful talk with the JEDI Philippines Coordinator this morning and she told me that I should not be worrying the expenses because the fares and accommodations will be taking cared of by the Sun Microsystems.

I know that the learning experiences here for both teams would mean that our UIC-ITE Program education is not at par with the education from the prestigious universities in the country. This is a very good start as well to the program for its drive for academic excellence and mission of quality IT education in the country.

Congratulations again! Aim high always!

The legendary Michael Jackson Dies at the age of 50

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Michael Jackson’s brother says it’s believed that the pop star died of cardiac arrest.

Jermaine Jackson cautioned at a hospital press conference Thursday that the cause of his death would not be known until an autopsy was performed.

He said Michael Jackson’s personal doctor and paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his rented home in Holmby Hills. A team of doctors at UCLA Medical Center also tried for more than an hour.

Los Angeles police Lt. Gregg Strenk said at a separate news conference that police robbery-homicide detectives have been ordered to investigate, which is common in a high-profile case. Strenk says the coroner’s office, which will handle inquiries into the type of death, is taking possession of the body.

Tribute To All Fathers Around the World

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Happy Father’s Day to All!

To whatever address you are calling them, as long as the respect and love are present does not matter. We are not just giving this day as the tribute for them, but we should respect, love, and always give salute to them, for without them, we are nothing. This tribute is not exclusively for our biological father but rather to all people that surrounds us and serve as our father in one way or another.

For supreme level of respect, let’s not just remember our biological father but as well as our Divine Father, the Almighty God. Let’s thank Him with care and love to all of us His chldren.

To my father, I love you Pa, even if I am not that showy in my actions but deep in my heart, I care for you and always praying that you will have  good health and happiness in your life. I salute you for all sacrifices and dedication in raising us to whatever we are right now. Thank you very much!

Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Summer 2009 Ends with Video Scandals

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Left and right, maybe in all parts of the Philippines at the same time, in the world is the summer ender scandals between cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Hayden Kho and the women of his life. To name the few, we have the sexy and FHM model/endorser Katrina Halili plus the innocent and angelic personality of Maricar Reyes (first love of John Lloyd Cruz in the Betty La Fea Soap). Who could imagine Maricar has a sexy video together with her Medical School mate?

This scandal was started with a private dance rehearsal turned to foreplay to the scandal between Hayden Kho and actress Katrina Halili(with their undies on “only”) with the background music “Careless Whisper” and the rest is until now a remarkable history.

Click here for the sample video of their dancing moves!

PACMAN VS. HITMAN - Who will win?

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Who will win reign the match between the East and the West this coming Saturday night (US) and Sunday morning (Philippines)?

Most are saying that this match will probably end the argument of who really the “best pound for pound boxer” and for that let’s see and wait for the result. Both boxers have a very good record in the boxing arena. It’s a match that is worth watching for.

For Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, good luck and God bless for the fight. Make each Filipino around the globe proud again.

Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino sa mundo!
