Great news for us UICians and for the ITE Program!

The ITE Program have submitted two entries for this year’s challenge. Just this June 26, the JEDI team has announced the Final 14 or shall we say the Finalists for Philippine Challenge. The winner here will be sent to Singapore to compete for the Finals from Champions of Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The good thing here is that the two teams from UIC-ITE Program have made it to the Final 14 and they will compete this July 14 at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) in Quezon City and meet the other finalists from prestigious universities from all over the Philippines. I will be with them in Manila and serve as teams’  adviser. And we’re proud that we’re the only teams from Mindanao!

The two UIC-ITE Teams are the following:

Team 1: Team Sugo ni Bro!

Application: Fleet Management System using Zkoss Framework

Members:m Karlo Jesus Sobiaco, Patrick John Yap, & Abzkan Abdul - IT 4

Team 2: Team RoJoSe

Application: An AJAX-based Multi Website Management System Using XML-RPC

Members: Ronald Borla, Sean Lester Benitez, & Joseph Rey Sator - IT 4

These two teams are really complete in package, from technical skills to communication skills. But constant practice will make them more competitive in one way or another. Good luck and God bless to our competition.

Just an update: I had a wonderful talk with the JEDI Philippines Coordinator this morning and she told me that I should not be worrying the expenses because the fares and accommodations will be taking cared of by the Sun Microsystems.

I know that the learning experiences here for both teams would mean that our UIC-ITE Program education is not at par with the education from the prestigious universities in the country. This is a very good start as well to the program for its drive for academic excellence and mission of quality IT education in the country.

Congratulations again! Aim high always!
